Online Guitar Classes in USA: Live Lessons With an Indian Teacher

Jam and Play offers online guitar classes in USA through live, one-to-one video lessons. Our teacher is based in India, so US lessons are booked in your morning or on weekends, not in the evening. Each lesson is 45 minutes on Zoom or Google Meet. Four lessons cost ₹3,999, and the first 30-minute demo is free with no lock-in.

The honest part first: time zones

Before anything else, you should know how the clock works. We teach from 9 am to 10 pm India Standard Time. That window sits in the US night and early morning, and that decides which slots exist.

In practice, that means three kinds of slots work well. Weekday mornings before work or school. Weekend mornings, which are the most popular. And, on the West Coast, early evenings around 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

The slots that don't work are the classic after-school hours of 3 to 6 pm in the US. They're the middle of the night in India. If that's the only time you can learn, we'll say so at the demo instead of letting you book something that doesn't last.

Time conversions are shown for standard and daylight-saving time where applicable, using 2026 time-zone rules. A window that crosses midnight spans two calendar days. These are teaching hours, not a list of available 45-minute appointments; confirm your city, date and lesson time before booking.

Who this suits in the US

It suits adults who are up early and want a lesson before the day starts. It suits children who learn on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And it suits Indian-American families who'd like a teacher who understands the music they grew up with, including Hindi film songs, as well as pop and rock.

It suits fewer people who are only free on weekday evenings after 5 pm local time. That's a real limit, and no amount of flexibility on our side moves the sun.

03

What a lesson looks like

You join a Zoom or Google Meet link. The teacher watches both your hands through your camera and listens to you play. You get a short practice plan afterwards, usually 15 to 20 minutes a day.

If you have never taken a lesson online, how online guitar lessons work covers the camera angle and sound setup. For adults who haven't played in years, the first lesson checks what your hands remember. Beginners learn two open chords in the first lesson.

04

Fees and how US students pay

Prices are in Indian rupees.

US students usually pay by PayPal or Wise. Your bank or PayPal converts rupees to dollars at that day's rate, so the dollar amount moves a little from week to week. We don't add a surcharge for overseas students. There's no lock-in. For details, see private online guitar lessons.

8 lessons₹7,199

05

Learning with a friend or sibling

Two students can share a lesson at ₹3,200 for four lessons. If you'd both be on a Saturday morning slot anyway, ask us to confirm the shared fee and arrangements before booking. See online group guitar classes.

06

Songs and goals

Most US students tell us one of three things at the demo: I want to play songs I already love, I want to learn properly from scratch, or my child wants to learn and I don't know where to start. All three work. If Hindi songs are the goal, our Bollywood guitar lessons put the song first.

07

Kids in the US

Children can start at 8. A parent should be nearby for the first few lessons to help with setup. Saturday and Sunday mornings work best, and many families fit a lesson before sports or Hindi school. See online guitar lessons for kids.

08

Exams from the US

Trinity College London and Rockschool grades are available to students in many countries. We teach the syllabi and prepare students for the exam. We're not an exam centre, and exam availability depends on where you live, so check the board's own website for your nearest centre. See exam preparation.

09

Who is teaching you

Arya Sen has played guitar for 12+ years and taught for 8+. Jam and Play has taught over 1,000 students in 40+ countries, and most lessons happen online, so teaching across time zones is routine for us. You can read more on the founder page or see student results. Prices and times on this page were checked in October 2026.
