The best time-zone match outside India

Most overseas students make compromises on timing. UAE students barely do. The Gulf Standard Time zone sits 90 minutes behind India, and the UAE doesn't change its clocks, so the conversion is the same all year.

We teach from 9 am to 10 pm IST, so your lesson window is 7:30 am to 8:30 pm every day. After-school slots at 4 to 6 pm are available, and so are weekend mornings. Sunday is a popular day because it's part of the UAE weekend.

Who we teach in the UAE

The UAE has a large expat community, with many families from India, and people from everywhere else. That shapes the demand.

Children in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi often have a full week of school and activities. A lesson at home saves a drive across traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road or the E11. Adults who work long days want a slot after work or on a weekend morning. And some families want a teacher who understands both Hindi film music and the school music they hear in class.

We teach from Dubai Marina to JVC, Al Nahda to Khalifa City, because it doesn't depend on where you live. It depends on your connection and your guitar.

03

Apartment practice

Most UAE students live in apartments, and practising a guitar in a tower block needs a little thought. Acoustic guitars are quiet enough for daytime and early evening. If you share a wall with a night-shift neighbour, tell the teacher. We'll suggest quieter practice habits, such as playing softly with a pick or using a clip-on tuner and light strumming.

04

How a lesson works

You join a link. The teacher watches both hands through your camera and corrects you as you play. After each lesson, you get a short practice plan of 15 to 20 minutes a day.

New to online learning? How online guitar lessons work covers camera angle and sound. Beginners learn two open chords in lesson one.

UAE students usually pay by PayPal or Wise, which convert from dirhams at the day's rate. Remitly may suit some families sending money from the UAE, depending on your bank. There's no lock-in. For plan details, see private online guitar lessons.

Children in the UAE

The minimum age is 8. A parent should be in the room for the first few lessons. After-school slots between 4 and 6 pm are easy to find, and Sunday mornings are popular. See online guitar lessons for kids.

07

Songs and goals

Hindi film songs are a common first request among UAE families. See Bollywood guitar lessons. Siblings can share a lesson for ₹3,200 for four lessons; see online group guitar classes. Many students also want a song for a school event, which we plan backwards from the date.

08

Exams from the UAE

Many international schools in the UAE use Trinity or Rockschool grades. We teach the syllabi and prepare students for the exam. We're not an exam centre, and centres vary, so check with your school or the exam board. See exam preparation.
