How step sequencing works
A step sequencer divides time into a repeating grid. Each row controls one drum voice and each column represents the next sixteenth-note position.
Start with kick and snare, then add hi-hats. Mute and solo help you hear each layer. Swing changes the spacing between alternating steps without changing the overall tempo.

Frequently asked questions
What is a 16-step drum machine?
One bar is divided into sixteen equal steps. Activating a cell tells that drum voice to play when the moving playhead reaches it.
What does swing do?
Swing delays alternating sixteenth notes slightly, changing a mechanically even pattern into a more relaxed, uneven groove.
Where is my saved pattern stored?
The Save button writes one pattern to local storage in your current browser. It is not uploaded and will not follow you to another device.
What do mute and solo mean?
Mute silences one track. Solo isolates one or more chosen tracks while the rest are temporarily silent.
